Submitting to Google is as stupid as it is easy
When creating a new website you obviously want to get it into Google's search index quickly. Let's face it, the whole idea of having a website is so that someone will look at it and buy our stuff or use our service or some other such fun thing.
So, your website's up and running and you search on Google for 'how do I submit to Google' (seems as good a place as any to start) and you get a bunch of results. You obviously click on the top one and get sent to a lovely page with some instructions on how to add your URL to the vast wilderness that is the Google index.
That'd be a great place to start. Wouldn't it?
Thing is, you can do that but you'll be waiting an awful long time for it to actually get on the index. If not days then weeks before it appears. It seems strange that Google's own submission routine takes such a long time, but it does and so the best advice is - don't do it.
Prodding Google
Thing is, we need to look at just why Google looks at websites and decides to index them at all and as any good SEO dude will tell you, it's about integrity. A page with a lot of integrity and a decent PR (page rank) that points to another site gives a little bit of its integrity over to that site.
It does this because Google bases its rankings on 'votes' and sites that have been around a while, that don't spam and have built up a good deal of integrity and trustworthiness get bigger votes.
Also, if a site with lots of integrity links to a page that Google doesn't know about, it sits up and takes notice. Find a big enough site to link to your site and it doesn't matter how new your site is, you can get it indexed within an hour.
Get that? Within an hour.
So now all you need to do is to find a decent site that has a lot of 'PR', tons of integrity that Google loves and is willing to take a link to your site. Many blogs will do this for a cost and you could pay for links, but that's crazy. I mean, can't you do this for free?
Yes. You can.
The theory
I'm going to lay out the theory here and then it's up to you to use it, but here is the answer in all its glory. Here, in three easy steps, is a method by which you can tell Google you exist and if you get it right, you can be indexed in an hour.
How to do it
- Find a site with high integrity
- Add your content with good anchor text to your site
- Submit to RSS feeds
Find a site with integrity and submit content
The key is a website called 'Blogger'. Guess what, Google owns it. So that's the integrity sorted then. Create a number of blogs on this site with links going back to your site. That's it.
You need to add some good keywords with good anchor text so that Google will know what it is you're selling, but you should know how to do that now, eh? If not, pop over to this hub here and it'll tell you all you need to know about Anchors.
Submit to RSS feeds
This is the clincher. You see, your blog will have an RSS feed and the key is to get as many RSS feed aggregators to host your feed as possible. Each one of these is a link in Google's eyes and you will be indexed quickly.
Easy huh?
